CNA Classes in RI

Taking classes that are accredited by the Rhode Island Department of Health is the stepping steps for students who like to get CNA certification in RI. Usually, it takes 6 to 8 weeks to complete these classes. The next step after completing the CNA training programs is to take the exam which is taken by the state to check the competency of nursing assistant.

Any applicants desiring to be a CNA in RI must be freed from any kinds of criminal records. They should also need to submit a health examination. Once both these checks come clean, students can make an application for the approved training programs that are offered in training schools, hospitals and nursing homes. An applicant should be at least 18 years old to be accepted for this program. He or she also must have high school diploma or equivalent GED.

The Rhode Island Department of Health has provided a list of approved programs in its website. This course includes 100 hours of studies, which prepares the students for the state exam. Most of the times of these training programs are spent in the school room and about 20 hour of these courses are focused on practical and clinical training. During these programs students get to learn critical jobs including patient wants rights and communication. Some of the other courses included in CNA classes are infection control, recording and monitoring vitals, CPR documentation and handling emergencies such as heart attack.

The cost of CNA examination is $55 the registration fee is $40. This exam is designed in a way to check both clinical and written skills of candidates. In the demonstration of clinical skills, candidates are required to perform at least 5 nurse aid skills successfully.

In the written part of the examination, applicants will have to solve at least 50 multiple choice questions. On passing both written and clinical part of the examination, candidates then can make an application for the Certification of Registration as a Nursing Aid. Once all these requirements are fulfilled, they'll be enlisted on the Rhode Nurse Assistant Registry.
