Why You Should Invest In A Face Sun Cream

By Veronica Cappelletti

Many years ago it was very unfashionable to have a suntanned face. A tan meant that you were a peasant who worked outside all day. The rich had to have pale, flawless skin to show their higher status. It was only in the first half of the twentieth century and thanks to fashion designer Coco Chanel that tanned skin became popular. However, there are some serious health risks to tanning and to stay safe, you should invest in a good face sun cream.

A small degree of exposure to sunlight is good for you, since it helps your body to produce vitamin D which keeps your bones strong. Too much of a good thing is not good anymore, though, and too much sunlight ages your skin. It also increases the probability that you might get skin cancer.

There are two types of ultraviolet ray that can cause damage to your skin. UVA rays break down skin's structure and cause wrinkles and that leathery, saggy texture that make you look older than you are. UVB rays give you that wonderful tanned color but also sunburn and skin cancer. To protect your skin, it's best to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that blocks both types.

To protect your face, it's better to use a sunscreen that has been formulated for facial skin specifically. This is because your facial skin is oilier and doesn't react well to the richer creams you use on your body. Facial sunscreens are lighter and often better for sensitive skin too.

It's best to use a specially formulated facial sunblock that you can apply as part of your daily beauty routine. Apply it after you've applied moisturizer and about 30 minutes before you will be exposed to sunlight. You'll need at least a quarter of a teaspoonful to ensure adequate protection. Keep reapplying it throughout the day.

If possible, avoid going outside after 10 a. M. And before 2 p. M. During this time the ultraviolet rays that can harm you are stronger because they hit Earth at a more direct angle. They also do more damage near water and snow that reflect them and at high altitudes. If you have to be in the outdoors, wear a hat with a sufficiently wide brim.

Many people don't like having pale skin because it makes them look unhealthy. However, you don't need to risk skin damage to get that healthy glow. Cosmetics like bronzing creams or powders provide instant results while self-tanning products give longer-lasting results.

If you skip the face sun cream, you may regret it one day when you need expensive plastic surgery to repair the damage caused by skin cancer or the loss of the skin's elasticity. It's better to be safe than sorry. There are so many products on the market that you'll easily find one that will suit your skin, your lifestyle and your budget and that will easily fit into your pocket or handbag.
