Clever Hints For Sunless Tanning Success

By Haywood Hunter

Sunless tanning solutions are used by many people who would like to enjoy the appearance of having been out in the sun without having to endure the potentially very damaging health consequences of spending hours in the sun. Research from the last half-century has revealed the dangers of skin cancer and other conditions, and a sunless self-tanning solution is now part of the beauty kit of many women.

However, just slapping on some sunless tanning solution does not necessarily guarantee the best effects; like any beauty technique, there are rights and wrongs in the sunless process which can affect the results.

When looking to apply a sunless tanning solution to the legs, then shaving beforehand is not a great idea, as it can lead to inflammation of the skin. Exfoliating beforehand though, is a good idea, with an exfoliating solution containing polyethylene preferable.

Another useful tip if someone is new to the process of sunless self-tanning is not to spray the solution directly on to the skin. This can lead to streaking and a generally very unsatisfactory result. Instead, use a sponge paintbrush to achieve a smooth effect with no streaks.

These are readily available from hardware stores, and are inexpensive. Anyone who is looking to make sunless tanning a regular part of their beauty routine should consider getting hold of one, not least because applying any sort of sunless solution to the back is very tricky indeed without some kind of tool to help.

Another novel way of keeping streaks to a minimum if a sponge paintbrush is not available is to use a wet wipe which has been removed from its packaging and allowed to dry. When sprayed with tanning solution this can also be used to achieve a nice smooth finish on the skin, as long as it is kept damp with frequent sprays of the sunless tanning solution.

With a bit of care, positive results can be achieved by anyone using a sunless tanning solution, keeping the risk of contracting skin cancer or other skin condition to a minimum while maintaining a summery, bronzed glow in even the most wintry sunless locations.
