Energy Healing And Associated Beliefs

By Christine Taylor

When it comes to maintaining a healthy body, mind and spirit, there are a number of ways to do so. In one case, those suffering from a number of illnesses and conditions prefer energy healing opposed to traditional medicine. In order to understand why this is the case, one must understand the beliefs associated with the practice.

Most often, these healing arts are provided by practitioners who have been trained in various methods and techniques. In most cases, energy is transferred from the healer to the recipient. The methods and techniques used can vary from distance, hands-off and hands-on to color and sound therapies.

While most often used with humans, some of the same methods and techniques are now being used when it comes to working with animals. As a result, these healing forms are often considered universal in nature. In most cases, the recipient will feel a sense of heat during a session. After which, it is believed the energy transferred from healer to recipient continues to work in various ways even after a session is complete.

Therapeutic touch or massage, Reiki, Qigong, Distance, Contact, Spiritual and Biofield are just a few areas when it comes to the methods used in this aspect. While not as well known, sound and color forms are new to the arts though often presented at psychic and healing fairs around the world. Events of this nature can often provide a great introduction to these and other methods for those interested in obtaining more information.

The practice is considered spiritual though non-religious and is often always non-denominational. As such, while it does suggest that the recipient must believe the method being used, it is quite different from faith healing. For, most often faith healing requires a religious leader to lay hands on the individual to effect a cure.

There remains a great deal of skepticism, especially in the medical community when it comes to these New Age practices. Although, there are now nursing organizations and nurses whom have accepted therapeutic touch as a valid method and technique. For, there has been scientific and visual proof that the method has had positive effects on a number of individuals.

One area which has the most skeptics in that of distant healing. For, it can often be difficult to believe that an individual across the room, across town or across the world could have the ability to impact someone so far away. As a result, most believe that the process in this area is suggestive rather than explanatory.

Whether believing in distance or other forms, the methods and techniques have become more popular over the last few decades. For, the more individuals who experience success with the methods and techniques used in different areas have provided a number of reviews and testimonials which have created more interest over time. As a result, more people than ever before are now at least trying these alternative methods.
