Discovering The Way To Self Realization

By Carolyn Olson

Every individual undergoes various phases of emotions in their lifetime, often becoming fixated on their current state of mind. When a person is sad, they tend to focus on depressive or negative thoughts. There are ways to get relief from such emotional turmoil such as the path to self realization, which helps one to attain inner peace and happiness, while still fulfilling their worldly responsibilities.

Beyond common activities of working, cooking and minding a household, one must consider the actual purpose of a human life. The point is to find a pure internal happiness through love, truth, peach, freedom and beauty. Perhaps the first step is to understand the value of one's very existence and that emotional control is an essential part of the journey.

It is part of human nature to want to be happy and not dissatisfied with oneself. When an individual is capable of considering each day of their life as a gift, they seek to displace all sadness with positive thoughts and feelings. This struggle is an ongoing cycle as the happiness must eventually give way to more melancholy which will again be removed by euphoria, and thus the circle continues.

Emotions involve a constant fluctuation of hormones which tend to cause unconscious mood swings and behavioral changes. Some may opt to repress such natural reactions by repressing them though that may result in one feeling stressed, depressed or experiencing extreme outburst such as sadness, anger, confusion or laughter. Management is more effective when one learns to understand why those feelings occur at all.

The reason most people choose to seek personal acceptance of themselves on a deeply spiritual level is because it will help them face obstacles with calm objectiveness. A person may tend to contemplate impossible issues like how vast the universe is and how they fit in it, where everything started, and the purpose of living. To begin the journey, it is necessary to clear all unknowns from the mind and to just accept what is known at that very moment.

It is important to accept that some things are simply beyond human comprehension and that those matters are better left to the universe to handle. People are endowed with five senses, all of which process factors that are purely tangible, materialistic aspects within which one may become deeply fixated. True freedom and knowledge comes from not focusing on what will be, or what once was, rather only feeling what is happening currently.

It is also important to understand that life is a series of oppositions that even each other out. One can not know true happiness without experiencing some sadness, and there can be no concept of good unless there is also one of bad. Looking at all opposites as integral parts of life, embracing and living each as an accepted step in the journey without extreme emotion, is the key to realizing the whole of oneself.

Inner peach can be achieved by taking a number of different paths. Some may choose worship, while others might opt for meditation or changing, all of which are designed to train one to focus their mind and go inside themselves. This allows a person to concentrate on the root of an emotion, thereby controlling it and becoming knowledgeable.
