There is really something about calculations that is quite confusing and a bit hard to get a hang of. No wonder there are a lot of individual that does not like mathematics at all. That goes same for billing, since its mostly calculations, complexities are obvious and due to that mistakes are inevitable. But that is something you can entirely blame to medical billing washington.

Besides you cannot expect human to commit a hundred percent accuracy knowing the nature of individuals. But then, that does not mean that they are not trying their hardest to make sure their job and service is up the top of patient and client expectations. Though, they really have nothing to panic about.

Now, this article will try to narrow down the mistakes that are mostly committed on medical billing facilities. That way, they can be avoided and covered immediately before everything goes wrong. Apparently, there are four on top of the list that completes the information about this particular topic.

Wrong billings and duplicates are one of the common ones to happen not just on medical facilities but other establishments. Most of these would happen when and if a patient was charged twice on a procedure or tests that happens only once. Additionally, it may also be something which they have actually not undergone to but still they were prompted for payment.

Most probably the mistake occurs due to cancelation of schedule and something of that sort. Although most of these can happen due to an honest human error, it still needs to be handled appropriately as it can be something closely used for ill intents such as fraud if it tends to have high number of reoccurrence.

Then, there is the problem on payment method that is commonly through EOB forms. The mistake here lies on the rejections even if its doable and it can actually go through. Yet, its something not unusual at all since this particular payment method is really confusing already so its hard if clients has no experience with this one.

Then there is the mistake on upcoding. This specific mistake is totally serious as it can be something you consider as malpractice. Normally, this will refer to the wrongful diagnosis and it can be intentional or not. Know that it is not good to diagnose a patient on something that is more than what they are feeling or having just to inflate the charges.

Then last but not the least is failing to review on the clearinghouse. Yes, it is true that billing is the busiest areas twenty four seven but there always should be a staff to handle the clearinghouse since this is one of the best way to prevent any mistakes on the way bills are calculated.

Last mistake would be on the unbundling or upcoding. This surely is something serious as it refers to changing or inflating the diagnosis of patients into something serious condition. That right there would then result to a bigger expense on the procedure. Though, it can be something that is caused by clerical error, it should sure be necessary to prevent scenarios like this.
