Advances in medicine are providing doctors with new ways of treating various conditions. The adoption of technology in the field of medicine is at its highest point currently. Laser technology in particular is always finding new applications in medicine. Laser refers to a highly focused beam of light. There are different kinds of lasers depending on the amount of energy they contain. When in need of Laser vein removal Munster IN should be visited.

One of the uses of lasers in medicine is in the treatment of varicose and spider vein. This process is accomplished by focusing a beam of light at the veins that need to be treated for a given period of time. The veins are damaged by the heat after a given period of time, leaving behind a scar tissue. The vein is therefore closed by the scar, which means that blood cannot be transported through it again.

Oxygen and nutrients can no longer be supplied to closed veins. This causes the veins to die and disappear after a few years. Treating these conditions can be done in various ways. The process whereby heat is applied on the outside of the skin is known as simple laser treatment. Small varicose veins and spider veins that appear close to the skin surface are treated using this procedure.

One needs more than a single session for the treatment to work. Treatment sessions are spaced at intervals of between 6 and 12 weeks. The doctor may however decide to vary the intervals as they see fit. Besides the simple version of this treatment, there is the endovenous laser treatment. This process is a bit more complex and is capable of treating larger varicose veins.

For the case of endovenous treatment, the area under treatment is subjected to a beam of light from a small tube. This tube is known as a catheter. The progress of the process is monitored by the doctor on a duplex ultrasound screen. Treating varicose veins using other treatment methods is more painful than endovenous treatment. Stripping and ligation are some of the other methods of treating varicose veins. One takes less time to recover after undergoing endovenous treatment compared to alternative treatment options.

Ligation uses general anesthesia while this treatment only uses local anesthesia. It only takes a few days after treatment for one to be able to walk again. A patient has to wear compression stockings for several days after endovenous treatment because of it is more invasive. One should expect to resume their daily routine within a week or so after endovenous treatment.

Simple and endovenous treatments have all been around for a long time now. Simple laser treatment has in fact become very safe and effective. There has never been any complication in this process for more than the last twenty years. Endovenous treatment is also very safe and effective, but research indicates that every 6 in 100 patients will experience problems with the treatment.

Both processes are however generally safe and effective. However, there are a few risks associated with them. The most commonly occurring side effects include skin burns and skin discoloration. Blood clots can also be expected together with a feeling of burning or pain. The doctor will prescribe painkillers to help with the pain.
