When a person loses a loved one, be it a parent, close relative or friend, it is usually a big blow to his or her life. On most occasions, the person may succumb to depression if he is not supported both physically and emotionally. For this reason, it is important to advise them to attend bereavement seminars, especially so that they can get emotional support.

Physicians are normally supportive especially for people who lose their loved ones due to diseases like cancer or other chronic diseases. They usually help a person to understand the cause of the death and help you come to terms with the death. Also, if the patient is chronically ill, the doctors start preparing the family members early enough so that the death does not take them by surprise.

Also, these grief support groups can be very helpful in supporting patients who may not recover from their maladies. They are meant to show love and care for the patients to make them feel loved. More so, the patients and families are encouraged to settle any differences that may be between them and enjoy the peace while it lasts. This will make both parties to have a clear conscience and be ready for any outcome.

The caregivers assist the patients to reassess themselves frequently and help them understand they might experience emotional changes as days go by. The caregivers also encourage family members to do a self-reassessment as well in case they become anxious due to the deteriorating condition of their loved one. The self-assessment helps them to be more psychologically stable and prevent the occurrence of long-term anxiety.

If the patient does not recover and dies, their loved ones are advised to actively attend the grief caregivers so that they can become encouraged. People that may react abnormally thus counseling is needed to make them more emotionally stable. In case the mourner becomes aggressive, they can be referred to mental institutions for further counseling and medication.

It is recommended that the clinicians of the patients who die to extend their condolences to the family members. This is because it has been reported that a note of condolence from the health care team is very helpful for the grieving person or person. The mourners usually appreciate the time you take to compose a personal encouragement message thus boosting their spirits.

Also, the grief support groups help the mourners to acknowledge the loss and accept that the dead are no longer in their lives. This acceptance of change is important as it will help them to move on with their lives and develop new life patterns, relationships and goals. This will help them to be more emotionally stable and accept that there is nothing they could have done to prevent the death.

In cases where the family members become depressed and their anxiety increase, the caregivers usually offer counseling and emotional support to help them recover. They encourage them to express their feeling by talking thus at the end; they can be more stable and accept the death. However, if they do not improve, they can be referred to mental institutions for medication.
