Some Nitric Oxide Side Effects

By Ben Mester

Nitric oxide is a compound that is showing up more in supplements these days. It's what's commonly known as a vasodilator, meaning that it widens the arteries and veins, which allows more blood flow throughout the body. What good is that, one could ask?

There are 1 or 2 reasons this can be a good thing. First, in some studies done on hair loss, evidence has been gathered that shows that some baldness may come about due to shortage of blood flow to the scalp and hair line. Another way people use nitric oxide is during weight lifting. Greater blood flow means greater oxygen and nutritional elements to the muscles. A third use for nitric oxide is in supplements for men's sexual wellness. I'll leave it to you to figure out how that one works.

Nitric oxide includes some potential side effects though that you should be mindful of. Thanks to the fact that it widens the arteries and veins, nitric oxide could cause dangerous raised blood pressure,. In reality, in some extreme cases, blood pressure was so negatively impacted by nitric oxide consumption that people have died as a result.

But in less extraordinary cases, nitric oxide side effects can include stuff like irregular heart beat, arrhythmia, headaches, and diarrhea. Heart conditions are not something that most folks wish to mess around with, so if you're experiening one or two of these complications, you might want to think carefully about your continued use of nitric oxide.

The level of seriousness of the side-effects will most likely correspond to how powerful of a nitric oxide supplement you're taking. Some, like the weight lifting supplements, are generally stronger than others and the corresponding side effects are typically more intense also. Most people who use nitric oxide supplements say that it might be a good thing to drink plenty of water when taking a nitric oxide supplement. So if you are going to use nitric oxide supplements, be safe and careful.
