Eating a Low Carb Diet is Easy

By James Steele

If you pick up a diet book or go online and look at weight loss websites, chances are a lot of what you'll come across are low carb diets. As soon as the Atkins diet became a sensation, many people began to believe that the secret to weight loss was cutting out carbs as much as possible. Although people who religiously followed such diets did lose weight, it was common for them to later gain it back because they were unable to maintain such a strict regimen of eating hardly any carbs at all. The fact is, you need some carbs to stay healthy.

They perform an essential function and provide your body with energy. What you want to focus on is eating moderate amounts of healthy carbs. The pointers we'll be sharing in this article will make all this clearer.

Are you a fan of pasta? Perhaps you even dread the idea that you can't eat it anymore. You've probably heard that pasta is the enemy of any person who wants to eat a low carb diet. This simply isn't true. They now make all kinds of pasta, including those with low carbs, gluten free and whole grain.

Many people are passionate about pasta -are you one of them? Perhaps you even dread the idea that you can't eat it anymore. You may be assuming that pasta is incompatible with a low carbohydrate diet. This simply isn't true. If you look in the natural foods section of your supermarket, you'll find pastas that are quite healthy, such as gluten free types.

Did you know that tortillas are full of carbs? Tortillas are the basis for many tasty and convenient foods, and if you're a burrito fan you probably eat them frequently. Tortillas are high in carbs, and not usually the good kind either (unless you buy special varieties), so they're not ideal if you're on a low carb diet. You can enjoy the same flavors of a taco or burrito by eating these foods on their own rather than wrapped in a tortilla. You'll find that this isn't much of a sacrifice, as tortillas are rather bland, while all the zesty spices are what they use to fill them. Of course, this might not work if you're making or ordering quesadillas, so this is one item you may have to cross off your menu. A low carb diet puts some limits on you, but you still have lots of choices. Try to open your mind and let go of the notion that it's extremely challenging to eat fewer carbs. The truth is, however, that it is not. No matter what foods you're used to eating, there are low carb substitutes available. When you open your eyes, you'll find a vast, low carb universe! If you're having trouble figuring out how to get started, talk to you doctor or a nutritionist. That way, you can get any questions or concerns addressed right away.
