Cancer is a disease comprised of the sporadic and rapid division of abnormal cells sometimes causing a malignant growth or tumor. The part of the body this cell division takes place in usually determines or labels the type of cancer. There are many risk factors believed to cause cancer, and everyone has cancer cells growing in their body. It is when harmful substances or other forms of abuse to the body cause these cells to multiply that a person is said to have cancer.

Cancer is multifactorial, meaning there is no one cause, but many factors that may contribute to a person developing cancer. Factors believed to cause cancer are called cancer cell "carcinogens". Some people have a predisposition to certain types of cancer, meaning that your genetic make-up makes it more likely you will develop cancer. Other factors include: sun or tanning bed exposure, smoking cigarettes, drinking an excess of alcohol or taking illegal drugs, consuming an unhealthy diet, leading a sedentary lifestyle, exposing yourself to toxic substances in your work, leisure or home environment (for example microwaving in plastic), and simply aging (the longer we live, the more likely we are to create and accumulate enough genetic damage to develop cancer).

Chiropractors are experts at helping you identify possible cancer risks, and also find safe alternatives to these potentially harmful substances. Chiropractors believe in all things natural, and that goes for cancer prevention as well. In fact, creating a strong immune system and healthy body free of toxic chemicals goes a long way in preventing all types of cancer. Toxic substances lead to cancer cells, so must be avoided. Substances to avoid include: chemicals from lawn and weed sprays, preservatives and pesticides in non-organic foods, and harmful preservatives added to vaccines.

Chiropractic adjustments help to strengthen the immune system by helping the nerves work better. Massage therapy and acupuncture help your body to relax, lower blood pressure, lessen the side effects of cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, and help you body function optimally, allowing it to fight off cancer cells.

Massage therapy and acupuncture are often offered to relax the body, lower blood pressure, lessen the side effects of medical cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation, and even fight off cancer cells. The primary method of chiropractic care, however, is the chiropractic adjustment. These adjustments help nerves work better by strengthening the immune system. Chiropractors can be very beneficial in preventing and treating cancer naturally.
