Tips For Choosing Natural Body Care Products

By Gloria Mason

There are various reasons why people want to choose Natural Body Care Products. It may be because they want to use ingredients that in the long term are going to be less harmful to their skin. Another reason can be that they wish to use organic brands that are more likely to have a socially responsible ethos.

The difficulty is that many brands can make their products appear natural without actually making any claims. A bright color or usage of a tree in the labeling can make something look organic. However a closer inspection of the label can indicate that it may contain sodium laurel sulphates or other additives.

Just to further confuse things some major manufacturers will advertise the use of a natural ingredient in a shower gel or other body care item. However this can be misleading because one item that has been sourced from eucalyptus or fruit may distract from other additives included such as sodium laurel sulphates.

It may be tempting to ask what is wrong with using something that has artificially sourced ingredients. Some studies have made the suggestion that artificial additives such as sodium laurel sulphates may increase the risk of cancer. However these studies are relatively new and ongoing so it is premature to reach a firm conclusion on this.

There is a wide range available of options. These can include shampoos, shower gels, bath salts and so forth. These can clean you in the same way another brand would but with better long term results. For example artificial shower gels are more likely to dry out the skin in the long term, ironically providing the opposite of what they ought to do!

Another thing to consider is the difference between natural and organic. A product may use naturally sourced ingredients but may do so via the use of pesticides and may not necessarily be ethically produced. Ideally you want products that have been produced ethically as well as naturally. Many people that use natural products are also opposed to the use of animal experimentation to test commercial items. Any producer that says their items are not tested on animals needs to be able to prove this. Ideally this will be through an independent third party who will provide certification showing that their products have not been tested on animals.

As with any brand there are varying degrees of quality. There are numerous review sites that allow you to compare what is available. Equally you can ask friends or family to give feedback on anything they have used recently. It is also worth looking online to see if there are any local events as there are often exhibitors with their own products.

In short there are numerous benefits of choosing Natural Body Care Products. While they are likely to be more expensive than a budget range brand they are likely to prove better for your body. Furthermore if the company follows ethical principles it is likely to be better for the environment. Look online for more information on companies that produce Natural Care Products and to find the best ones for you.
