It will take more than a year for a person studying dentistry to complete the coursework. Usually, it will take four years before you can get your diploma from the dental school. You will have to work hard the whole four years so that you can become qualified to take on the title of a dental professional in the future.

The first two years of your coursework will be for classroom lectures and similar setting. However, the latter half of your coursework will require you to do simple dental treatment and conduct practical hands-on operations. Obtain a license to become a professional. If you wish to be a professional, this is an imperative requirement for you. You will not be allowed to do anything major related to your practice if you do not have the license. You can get the license by passing the state examination as administered by the right authority.

You can decide whether you want to be an solo practice professional or if you want to work under someone else. You can work in hospitals or well-established dental clinic. If you prefer to be independent in your work, then you should start up your own clinic in the state where you are licensed at.
