The Two Main Types Of Breast Implants

By Scott White

The breast implant is one type of prosthesis process which is being used in order to make some changes on the shape, contour, and size of the breasts. For the reconstructive plastic surgeries, the breast implants are placed in order to do the restoration of breasts, making it look more natural. These are often applied to patients who have undergone mastectomy or for chest walls that have congenital defects or deformities.

The devices used in the breast implant are classified into three and these are the silicone gel, composite filler, and saline solution. But for breast implants Michigan, there are two most common types which are being used in the procedures of breast reconstruction, breast augmentation, and mammoplasty. These two are the saline implant which is filled by a saline solution and a silicone implant which is filled by gels.

In Michigan, one type which is used commonly for the prosthesis process by most of the devices is saline solution for a breasts augmentation. It is because a silicone filled type of implant is being restricted now by FDA because of some specific reasons. The technical goal of this is to make a more less invasive type of technique in surgery for emplacement of an empty device by small surgical incisions.

For a surgical praxis, when the implants are already emplaced in the pockets, each device will then be filled by the surgeon with the saline solution. Since the insertion incisions are required to be short and be small, the result of incision scars surely would be shorter and smaller as well compared to the usual surgical scars with long incisions which are required for the insertion of gel.

Thus, when this is being compared to silicone gel types, it will surely be yielding much acceptable results specifically for an increase in size, and thus, it becomes smoother and also has a hemisphere contour and its texture becomes realistic. However, the patient may also be experiencing the side effects like having cosmetic problems. The problems would include wrinkling and rippling the envelope skins, and the lower pole stretches will be accelerated.

Other problems on this are the technical problems that would include the implants presence, thus, making it visible to eyes and can be felt when touched. The cosmetic problems would most likely occur only when a woman has little tissues. For women who have previous experiences on post mastectomy, the use of silicone gels are suggested for the prosthetic devices in both breasts augmentation and reconstruction.

However, being one of the medical device technologies, the gels implant has five generations. Each generation is being defined by some common techniques for model manufacturing. The first one is made from rubber envelope sac. Its shape is similar to a teardrop and is filled with silicone gels. In order to reduce the emplacement rotation on chest wall, this is affixed into the pocket using the fastener patch.

In second generation, a products functional development and aesthetic improvement are both featured. In third generation and fourth generation, sequential advancements of the manufacturing technology are focused. These would include elastomer coated shells so that gel bleed will decrease and will also have thicker filler gel.

And the last one is made from highly cohesive and high strength gel which most of the time will be eliminating the filler leakage occurrences. Silicone filler migrations from a pocket is also eliminated. Most commonly, the implants are referred as gummy bear implant for breasts, that is, similar to the gummy candies.
