They contain a good amount of white blood cells which fight off the bacteria before it enters our blood stream. However, with bad diet, unhealthy lifestyle and sickness, your tonsils could get overworked and may not be able to function properly. They may not be able to keep up with the amount of junk in the lymph fluids, hence the dirt in the lymph fluid accumulate in the crevices of the tonsils along with the food debris, giving rise to tonsilloliths or tonsil stones.

Now that you have a better understanding of how the tonsils and the lymph system work, you may be able to take necessary precautions against the development of tonsil stones. By strengthening your immune system, you can thereby boost your lymph system and in effect, your tonsils. That is why maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle is crucial in your fight against tonsil stones.
