All About Skin Extractions Vancouver

By Ines Flores

Everyone loves to take care of their skin and especially their face. In this great struggle, acne becomes our number one enemy regardless of type of color of skin. For starters, acne is present in two common forms-blackheads and whiteheads. Good news is that the two are easily removed by an esthetician through a skin extractions Vancouver BC procedure.

For starters, acne, as said before, commonly manifests in whiteheads and blackheads. The two forms are generally referred to as comedonals which arise from clogging of hair follicles with oil or sebum. The difference between the two is how much they are exposed to air. Blackheads are pretty much open to air whereas whiteheads are closed which make the whole difference in terms of how they appear.

Acne is treated differently among different people. For instance, some prefer over the counter anti-acne medicines from the supermarket or drugstore while others follow the much expensive route-the dermatologists. Yet others seek the services of an esthetician- a professionally trained skin care expert. Through routine facials, the esthetician is able to pluck off the whiteheads and blackheads.

A facial is a cleansing procedure for the face. It involves cleaning, exfoliating and massaging. The purpose of these procedures is to soften up the plug of hardened sebum that is blackheads. Once softened, the extraction process may begin. Hand gloves are necessary for this procedure as exchange of body fluids can result to transmission of disease.

Blackheads may be extracted by the use of either index fingers or an extraction tool. If using fingers, the esthetician should remove the blackheads with their fingers covered in a cotton cloth. He or she should ensure that they apply pressure to either side of the spot so as to coax it gently from the follicle. An extraction tool usually made from stainless steel with a single loop may also be used. It is faster but painful to some people.

Whiteheads have a layer of dead cells covering them and hence much more difficult to remove. A lancet or a small surgical blade, however, can be used to make an opening in the skin and remove the whitehead. The lancet should be sterile and care should be taken as this is a delicate process. The advantage is that it is effective for most people but the use of lancets is restricted.

Throughout these extraction processes, both the client and beauty care expert should observe safety precautions and measures. For instance, areas showing signs of inflammation should not be touched as infection is likely to spread. In addition, the duration of the procedure should be less than ten minutes. Also, the number of procedures performed should be limited as skin trauma can result if there are many procedures at once. Every two weeks is recommended.

Extraction procedures are crucial I treating acne and other blemishes. Improvement of the face is observed almost immediately after completion of the treatment. Clients should be keen on expectations as it may take a longer time. Also, they should not expect a pain free process. Thinner skins are more sensitive than thicker and oilier skins and therefore have more pain. Additionally, some beauty experts may be more aggressive.
