By Kalpana Naidu

Have you ever been called a fitness freak Or may be a health nut? What does it really mean? A fitness freak is one who lives fitness, eats fitness and sleeps fitness. Do this define your attitude towards fitness?

One element to consider is paying attention to what you eat - The food pyramid. The food pyramid was introduced a long time ago in 1992 and later updated in 2005.A Food pyramid is a quantitative nutrition guideline, using a mnemonic graphic of a pyramid with gradable separated zones to represent suggested percentages of the daily diet for different food groups this became a milestone that was to be followed and suggested for nutritional health.

Many diets of recent years represented in terms of percentage. 40/40/20 is endorsed by many dieticians and is one of the best approaches to healthy diet. 40/40/20 implies that for a given number of calories one should have to consume 40% of proteins, 40% of Carbohydrates and 20% fats.

But beware of the temptation to take the easy route out. TV and magazinesalways carry captivating commercials about some "wonder product" to help you get into proper shape. While some of these options may be genuinely good and healthy, you should stay as far as possible from these "options" as they are associated with many adverse side-effects and health risks if not administered properly.

Remember, there's a big psychological element to being fit. It's the difference between dreaming and doing and between just planning to actually executing. We often drop our dreams and plans mid-way. Sometimes we don't even begin. Determination, focus and discipline are equally important ingredients in the recipe to stay fit.

Enter Role Models. Role models help us stay focused and are great to have, when one is in the process of changing one's outlook on life and general health. A trick is to find the busiest person you can ,who has a dedicated fitness desire .

One such role model to be considered is Anil Ambani, Chairman of India-based Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. Wherever he may be in the world, he never miss this run.

Rujuta Diwekar, Anil Ambani's Personal Fitness Trainer says, "He has got an amazing capacity to run and he is one of the most disciplined people I know."

Sanjay Kapadia, a layman like you and I, who runs regularly with Anil Ambani says, "Since last three years, Anilbhai has been running with us. Earlier, we would exchange pleasantries while jogging and one fine day I asked him if I could get a photograph clicked with him. since then he is running with us." He continues as, "He is an inspiration of sorts. He is a disciplined runner and doesn't miss out on running sessions with us unless he is abroad. Many times, he has returned back home at 2 am in the morning but he will still come for running with us at 5am on the same day. I would also say that there are many people on Marine Lines who have been inspired to run by Anilbhai."

When you do make a commitment to take care of your body both internal and external, it is critical to your overall health that you do it in a right manner or not. Discover ways to maintain a better healthy lifestyle and be in the best shape of your life - all the smart way!
