Most pets become valued members of the families they live with. Their unconditional love and devotion to their owners are important aspects of this relationship. Some people prefer large dogs that will guard their houses, and others are more comfortable with little canines that accompany them around the house and lay beside them on the couch. If you are someone with a preference for small, friendly, and intelligent dogs, a Cavachon puppy for sale might be a good fit for you.

Cavachons are hybrid dogs that come from the union of a Bichon Frise and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Breeders wanted to create an animal that combined the best characteristics of both. Because they aren't considered pure breeds, the dogs are not registered by the accredited associations which govern the exact coloration, height, and weight of recognized breeds.

The puppies are very small, weighing only a pound or two. They have to be handled carefully and often feel more secure if they are contained most of the time in a small basket. Even at full maturity, they will not stand much over a foot tall. This makes them great pets for apartment and loft dwellers. Retirees who spend a lot of time in their RVs also make good owners for Cavachons.

Cavachons are certainly not guard dogs. They tend to have a very sweet and gentle nature, although they have plenty of energy. They love attention and generally do better in homes where someone is around most of the day. This can make them a good choice for retired seniors in need of companionship. Regular walks and daily play will burn off any excess energy and give them the mental stimulation they need.

Obedience training is important for any family pet, and Cavachons usually take to lessons naturally. This is especially true when they are young. The dogs want to please and are intelligent. They just have to understand what their owners want from them.

Flea allergies and heart murmurs are not uncommon conditions for these dogs. They can also suffer from ear infections, so their owners need to pay special attention to this area. Cleaning the interior of their ears weekly is a good idea.

It may be hard to find certified breeders of Cavachons because they are a fairly new breed. You can probably find current owners online willing to recommend a breeder in your general area. Before you purchase any pet from a breeder, you should find out as much as possible about the genetic history of the animal you intend to purchase. If a breeder doesn't want to answer questions or show you around their facility, you should probably think twice about completing a transaction.

Finding the right pet is not always easy, and some people are not good candidates for any kind of pet. It may take time to find one with the right personality. Jumping in and making a rash choice can turn out badly for the family and the animal.
