Millions of people, especially men, suffer from alopecia, the correct term for the losing hair. For many people this is just another phase of life or the roll of the dice and they accept the fact that they are going bald. Many others, however, will do nigh anything to prevent alopecia. For the best hair loss treatment PA residents are best off consulting a specialist in this field.

People start to go bald for a myriad of reason. Men, especially, often suffer losses simply because they are genetically programmed to do so. Others neglect their scalps and many people experience losses when undergoing certain medical treatment or when using certain types of medication. Too much sun can also be a cause. In some cases new growth will occur spontaneously but is the majority of cases this will not happen.

Finastride is one of the most effective methods of dealing with male baldness patterns. It is taken once a day in capsule form. One third of users report some new growth after a while and another third experience significant new growth. In an astonishing ninety percent of men using this medication no further losses are experienced at all. This medication is scheduled, however, and must be prescribed by a doctor.

Both men and women have experienced success with Minoxidil, an ointment that is massaged into the scalp once a week. Fifty to eighty percent of users say they experienced much less loss than before and about twenty percent of users report new growth. Using Minoxidil for long periods can, however, result in dermatitis. It should therefore be used with care and for short periods only.

Surgery is also an option but it is very expensive and only produce truly effective results after a year or so. The surgery is performed with a local anaesthetic when small clusters of hair is removed from the side of the head and transplanted to the bald areas. There is no danger that the transplanted clusters will fall out or fail to grow.

There are a number of home remedies that are reportedly highly effective. Massaging the scalp once a week with coconut oils will help promote growth and keep the scalp healthy. Onion juice is very high in sulphur, which improve the blood supply to the follicles. It is also highly effective in the treatment of scalp infections which can also cause losses. Aloe Vera is said to bring the Ph balance of the scalp to the correct level.

There is much that can be done to prevent losses. The scalp needs to be cleaned regularly, using a mild shampoo. Rough brushing, rubber bands and hot curlers can cause breakages and thinning. Diet is also important. Experts advise that protein promotes growth. Omega 3 fatty acids, nuts and eggs are also vital to the health of the scalp. Stress too, is one of the biggest culprits.

Many people accept baldness as a part of life and many people even find bald people very attractive. Many others, however, treasure their hair and will do almost anything to preserve it. Sadly, short of wearing a wig, there is no instant miracle cure for baldness and thinning.
