The Use Of Stem Cells For Skin Care

By Miranda Sweeney

Researchers around the world are constantly searching for a formula that will slow the aging process and encourage the regeneration of collagen and elastin to reduce the effects of UV radiation and time on face and body. Many scientists have turned to stem cell research looking for the answers to physical signs of aging. The use of stem cells for skin care shows a lot of promise for those who want to slow the hands of time.

Many topical treatments available are created from the embryos taken from hardy plants. These plants have histories of survival in some of the harshest climates and conditions on earth. Botanical embryos have the capacity to replace or repair damage done to the plant by the elements or other sources. Tests indicate that people who consistently use the creams created from the plant embryos show a marked improvement in appearance over a three month period of use.

Other treatments are created using unfertilized human eggs that were donated for this use. The eggs are tricked into creating the needed amino acids and proteins of the cell and they are extracted for use in the creams. Another method is to use bovine placenta in the production of the treatments.

One of the more controversial methods begins with harvesting cellular ingredients from the clients fat cells and injecting them as filler into the face. This is still an experimental process and has had mixed results. Some of these results have proven dangerous to the patient because of other ingredients included in the injections.

The main goal of most topical treatments is to stimulate the natural collagen in the body into action. They do that by using extracts made from peptides, growth factors and specific signaling chemicals designed to spur the chemicals in a body to respond naturally. The only conversation seems to be regarding which source is the best for this purpose.

The enzymes that create the proteins and amino acids can readily be found in plants and most companies are switching to non-embryonic sources for these enzymes. Some are using chemical compounds that include the specialized peptides and enzymes but plant embryos create these naturally and they can be extracted and used in creating topical creams and serums.

The cell that effects the epidermis of people is located near hair follicles and sweat glands. They remain dormant until they receive a signal to begin a repair mode. At this point the cell splits into two types of cell one of which remains in place while the other is capable of creating virtually every type of new cell for the body.

The researchers have been making more progress every year in this field of endeavor. Many claim that their products work miracles if used correctly by the clients. We may see a day in the near future when this therapy will be available to every person who wants to improve the appearance of their skin at a reasonable cost.
