Chiropractic is a system of health care that is of the belief that a body structure, especially the spine, has an effect on the functioning of each part of the body. A chiropractor Las Vegas will try to alter the alignment of a human body in an effort to try relieving the pain and help improve the functionality of a body so that it can heal by itself.

The human body contains an approximate 60 different chemicals. Each of these chemicals is responsible for different functions and regulations. For example, calcium helps in muscle contraction while potassium regulates the heartbeat. Four chemicals are also associated with pain management, and a published study indicates that chiropractic supports almost all the four chemicals.

This care has also been included in other therapy. These include nutritional consultations, manipulative therapies, ergonomic training and in therapies utilizing laser and ultrasound. Modern chiropractors team up with mainstream doctors, surgeons and pain doctors in pain alleviation.

Most chiropractic research has been mainly focused on spinal adjustment to relieve back pain. Other problems such as headaches, musculoskeletal pain, asthma, fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel syndrome are also being studied. A recent study showed that chiropractic manipulation on the spine also helps to relieve back and neck pain, migraine and whiplash.

Such spinal manipulation may contribute to some health complications like stroke. This is a rare incidence. Some studies in medicine suggest that this therapy is not the real cause of such complications.

Spinal adjustment is done by applying a quick and strong pressure on the area between the vertebrae. This pressure tends to move the vertebral alignment back toward normal. This causes generation of a sharp cracking sound. It is believed that this sound results from breaking of vacuum or releasing of a bubble.

This manipulation of spine is done only to one joint at a time. This is accomplished by positioning a body in order to focus the exerted force on only one joint while the other spinal parts above and below are held intact. The therapy takes around 10 to 20 minutes and is scheduled twice or three times a week.
