Your usual daily routine can be totally disrupted by chronic back pain. It becomes difficult to concentrate on work and you may lose your job. It can make everything in life hard to deal with. There are a number of possible ways to alleviate that pain. A leading Stockbridge Georgia Chiropractor is available to help avoid dependence on prescription drugs or surgery for pain relief.

There is a method of relieving pain that relies on neither of those. Theoretically, it operates on the assumption that the vertebrae and the intervertebral discs between them are compressed. It alleviates pain, over time, by decompressing the spine.

Spinal decompression gently stretches the spine, thereby altering the position. That, in turn takes the pressure off the discs. Bulging or herniated discs are relieved of the pressure causing the pain. The stretching relieves pressure, allowing oxygen and fluids to enter and facilitate healing of the intervertebral discs.

Surgical spinal decompression, a laminectomy or microdisecectomy for example, is invasive. The chiropractic decompression process is not. First, a client must be evaluated to make certain this care method is appropriate for him or her. If it is, he or she lies on a specially designed table that is stationary under the head and torso and movable under the hips, legs and feet.

A harness is placed around the clients hips and attached to the end of the movable half. The chiropractor guides the motorized movement of the table to deliver intermittent intervals of traction and relaxation. The client feels a stretching sensation.

The required number of sessions are scheduled over a period of four to six weeks. Adjunctive care might include ultrasound or electrical stimulation. Mild exercises may be given for home use between appointments. They will be gentle, and designed to make the back stronger.
