Advances in Technology and Chiropractic

By Dr. Michael Weir

If 40 years ago I had told you that one day you would be able to go to the dentist and have no pain, you probably would have laughed at me. The thought of a doctor performing a surgery by watching a TV and moving computerized arms was unheard of not all that long ago. But, here we are 2010, and all these things are here! The same is true for how technology has influenced the field of chiropractic today.

There is now technology that allows chiropractors to treat the human body while the patient is seated in an upright position, and without and twisting or cracking. The Proadjuster is the technology used by a select number of chiropractors in the profession today that allows them to treat musculoskeletal pain by use of computers and sensors, instead of by hand. This technology allows chiropractors to join many of the other health care fields in the 20th century.

A chiropractors main objective in helping their patients is to find and treat areas of dysfunction within the spine. These dysfunctions can turn into low back pains, headaches, sciatica, neck pain and many other conditions that can affect the body. The Proadjuster uses advanced computer technology to find these areas of dysfunction and them treat them with extreme precision.

The next step is for the Proadjuster system to take the information that was gathered by the piezeoelectric sensor send it through its complex computer system for interpretation. This interpretation is used to find the perfect treatment that is needed to correct the dysfunction in your body and spine.

With the use of the same diagnostic tool the doctor can then deliver a treatment based on the computer determination. This treatment is an oscillating force which is uninterrupted until the piezeoelectric sensor feels the joints mobility increase. This is an extremely comfortable process in which I have even had a few patients fall asleep during. In every field it is important to utilize the advances in technology. The Proadjuster has allowed chiropractic to advance as technology advances.
