Brain Tumor Research Helped By Electricity

By Rob Sutter

It's apparent that brain tumor research is going to bring a tremendous amount of attention to the forefront. Anyone would be able to agree on the matter, especially when you take into account that this level of research can bring so many different therapies to the forefront. However, what about those that are rooted in electricity? It seems as though an electrical cap can be brought into effect and it seems like the idea can be responsible for great improvements for a number of patients.

An article on abc123.com talked about an electrical cap that was utilized in brain tumor research efforts in the past, which isn't hard to think about. However, two years later a patient by the name of Melissa Hernandez-Chaczco was able to wear the electric cap for a period of 18 hours per day. She showed great improvement since that time as well, as the written piece would report. It's the kind of improvement that should be noted by organizations on the matter such as Voices against Brain Cancer.

It appears as though this particular cap has been able to work well during the course of 18 hours each day. The way that this works, according to the article, is through a series of 36 ceramic disks that are able to carry out this particular process. Hernandez-Chaczco went on record to say that she has not felt the disks at work. I believe that this is another reasons why these this cap deserve greater emphasis, even with chemo, radiation, and invasive surgery brought into effect.

There's been a level of responsibility to consider as far as swapping out the electrodes every few days was concerned. For those who are looking at the more scientific evidence behind this cap, take into account how electricity plays into the brain as far as cell maintenance is concerned. The electricity has a strong effect on mitosis or cell division, which renders the cells paralyzed. For those who don't know, if the cells stay in this stage for too long, they will die out, which makes this process quite effective.

I think that this method is one to talk about, especially with the results that have been seen over the course of time. In a couple of years, not only has Hernandez-Chaczco's condition changed in a positive way but it's done so without side effects commonly linked to chemo, for example. The brain has not been impacted as far as memory or motor skills are concerned. I think that, out of all of the factors of research, normal cognitive maintenance should be kept in mind most.
