The Benefits Of West Virginia Drug Testing

By Sharron Cantu

Substance abuse is becoming a big problem in the world today. Many young people are getting into it, without knowing the long term effects of the abuse. The benefits of West Virginia drug testing are many. There has never been any negative effect of testing that is known; alternatively only positive effects are known.

A drug is a substance that people take to cure a sickness or relieve pain and is usually prescribed by a practicing doctor, but there are other types of drugs that are mostly self prescribed that are not for relieving pain but for pleasure or ecstasy and this mostly affect the nervous system. The continuous use of this kind of drugs makes one an addict of that substance.

Unlike in a state like west Virginia, where drug testing is not a requirement, some companies have a mandatory law that their employees have to be drug free before beginning to work for them and they are again tested annually or biannually to make sure they are clean. In West Virginia, the law of making the testing mandatory is yet to be passed.

Some people feel that making them take the test is some sort of punishment, they do not understand that it is for their well being, to make them stay clean and healthy. The effect of the workers who do drugs on a company are so many like, they slow down productivity, some become rude and even violent and they do not listen to their superiors. They do as they feel and that affects how the work is done in a company.

Some companies feel that it is a waste of time and money as they will have to pay for the testing. But they do not realize that it is cheaper to pay for that than to deal with the addicts who are not only hard to deal with but the time they waste being in and out of hospitals for the many different ailment they usually have or going through hiring each and every other time they have to go for rehab.

In some workplaces, they even have training programs where they educate their workers on the dangers of drugs and the benefits of the tests, making them understand that it is for their own good and for the betterment of their health in general.

It is therefore seen that when you educate a person on the benefits of drug testing, it is as well as educating the whole society as they educate each other, making it a progressive society with no risks of drug addiction.

So it should be made signed into law making mandatory for all people to be tested to improve the productivity of not only workplaces but the state in general because abusing drugs will reduce as no one who is an addict will be employed or allowed into any job opportunity by the government.
