Man is not meant to live alone, and he needs to be with others to feel complete and whole. There are so many in the population who have everything they could ever want, all the delicious foods they could eat and all the exotic places they can go to, but at the end of the day, they were alone and miserable, with only their money to keep them company. On the other hand, there are those who barely get by, but has an abundance of friends and other people who love him. At the end of the day, his pockets are still empty, but his heart is not.

As it is said, humans are meant to interact with other humans. After all, people share the same planet. They are subjected to the same circumstances, affected in various ways with similar societal issues. Hence, due to the multitude of strings that bind every single one to another, it should be second nature to give to sickle cell charities for kids.

Sickle cell is not really as known of a disease as leukemia and other serious matters, but it is as life threatening as any. It is actually a type of blood disease. Patients with SCA have sickle shaped red blood cells instead of the normal round ones. The abnormality leads to blockages in the blood vessels, leading to oxygen deprivation to some parts of the human anatomy.

The abnormal shape is brought about by a mutation in the hemoglobin gene. When one has inherited the mutant gene, the body produces both the normal and the alien hemoglobin in the process called codominance. The blockage done by the mutations will naturally inhibit oxygen from flowing in, and this could bring about severe pain to the certain oxygen deprived part of the body.

The disease does not only deprive the parts of the body with oxygen and cause them to rot, it also plays the host to more unwanted illnesses who will inevitably come visit. Hyposplenism, the ailment characterized by the malfunction of the spleen, will cause the immune system to drop. This exposes the patient to an even greater risk of bacterial infections.

Aside from the negative effects brought about by the disease to the body, it also brings about negative effects to financial status of families. It is not a surprising fact that these illnesses often bring about sky high fees. These can drain savings and other financial sources that will lead one to sek the help of charities.

Being inflicted with this disease will not only eat up on the health, but also on the pocket as well. It is a very serious condition that demands quality medical attention round the clock. Of course, this is not for free, and could reach quite a huge sum, even with benefits and insurances alike. It is not then surprising that people turn to charities for help.

These institutions do not only benefit those who are asking for support. They also bring about positive effects to benefactors. Donating to these groups will give one a sense of purpose. It also leaves a certain fulfilling feeling, too.

It is also good for your mental and physical functions, too. It also opens your eyes to see that there are so many things to be thankful for the things that you are enjoying. Even when you think you have it bad, there will be far more things worse than your suffering.
