There is many different types of massage which are becoming more popular. Thai massage is one of the eldest arts of healing and it is thought to date back thousands of years to Buddha times. This art of message was first carried out in Thailand by an Indian doctor and it was called Ancient Massage. This art of massage was thought of as being ancient art for the body and it was good for health, healing and transformation.

South eastern monks have carried out Thai massage for hundreds of years and its classed as one of the indigenous forms of Thai medicine. Oriental medicines views illness as an imbalance within the body, spirit and mind. The form of massage works on the concept which there are invisible lines in the body.

These invisible lines are referred to as Prana Nadis and they are believed to supply vital energy to the body. Energy that is needed for life is absorbed from the air and is therefore consumed when we breath and it is also in the food that we eat. Any disturbance to the flow of this energy results in a lack of energy being supplied to these lies and this will lead to sickness.

Thai massage works using ten different energy lines and the acupressure points that are on these lines. The massage therapy works on these lines and breaks through the blockage that have built up so that the energy can flow freely, which will restore the health and balance of the body.

Thai massage focuses on interactive manipulation and this uses two main procedures. The therapist will work by applying gentle pressure to the hand and foot so that energy travels to the invisible lines. They will also make use of a range of stretching movements so that the body is manipulated in to a range of postures.

These movements will help to align the energy within the body. The traditional form of Thai massage differs greatly from the traditional style of massage which involves kneading the muscles and using strokes of various lengths in order to calm and relax the body. The Thai style of massage works more on the energy within the body rather than the physical body and it makes use of gentle pressure and vigorous movements.

There are a number of advantages of Thai massage and the biggest advantage is the unique effect that it has on the energy within the body, as it relaxes the body. This art of massage it commonly known as Thai yoga and this is due to the assisted stretching.
