The Easiest Way To Sabotage Your Weight Loss

By Taylor Ryan

There is no way around it, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In fact, study after study proves that people who start their day off with a balanced meal are more likely to lose weight and also more likely to keep weight off.

Not all breakfasts are created equal though and so many people skip out on the idea of having a balanced breakfast and just thing it is okay to get any breakfast. Its very easy to grab a PopTart, a sugary bowl of cereal or stop at the coffee shop for a muffin, and it seems much harder to take the time to eat healthy foods.

But here is the thing, these on the go foods are filled with sugar, simple carbs and are not going to do breakfast justice in the first place. The worst and most unbalanced meals you can eat include pastries, most cereals and granola, and on the go fast food biscuits.

When it is time to get your morning routine going and have breakfast it is important that you have something that is a good source of protein and even has a little healthy fat in it. Why? Because protein take awhile for your body to breakdown so it stays in your stomach longer helping you to stay full that way you are not grabbing for junk by mid-morning.

I think it is really important to also hit up on why this meal is so important in the first place. When you are sleeping your body is still working hard and it needs energy, remember that during the day you want to eat every few hours well the same thing goes for your body during the night... it needs constant energy. When your alarm clock goes off in the morning your body is starving, literally from such a long time without food. You might think that since you are not hungry that that is not the case but let me assure you that you have simply conditioned yourself to not want breakfast but your body really does.

Skipping breakfast can decrease your metabolism, energy and increase sugar cravings due to your low blood sugar.

Just remember that it can not stop at breakfast, continue the day with healthy food decisions and still to a good workout plan to help you see the body that you want. There is so much more to a breakfast, my favorite includes oatmeal with cinnamon, almond milk, a dash of maple syrup and raisins, but other good options include protein shakes, eggs and fruit, and even protein pancakes (which are super easy).
