If you care about your teeth and mouth, then at the very least you brush with a good toothpaste morning and nightly. You should really not floss more than one time on any given day, but it is something you should do.

You can find mouthwash specially formulated to fight cavities, whiten teeth and so on. Maybe you want to fight bad breath, so then there is tongue scraping for bacteria build up. People can be brutal about their smile, and even though you may do all of the above your smile just is not making it. It can be that you are making very basic dental hygiene mistakes that interfere with the process.

Smoking has so many dangers, and the awareness is pretty much "there" on that subject. There are so many different kinds of cancer that can be developed from it, etc. You know that it can stain your skin. You know that it makes you look terrible and that it is a costly habit to maintain. What concerns smokers, though, is the negative affect on their smile just because of the color changes that result from that habit. Since we are talking about our teeth, then you know that if you smoke you will have to work harder to maintain that bright smile. We will not preach to you about smoking because it is all so obvious.

Many people in the US run their tap water through some kind of filtration device and this is the best thing to do. Obviously if you are living somewhere that does not allow fluoride to be placed in the water (Oregon is a state that prohibits the inclusion of fluoride in drinking water), bottled water is better than nothing. Finding the ideal solution so you can drink healthy water can be easily done. Plastic in the ground is an issue, and that may be important to you so you do not support it.

Super strict diets can often strip our bodies of the nutrients and vitamins they need to be healthy.

These vitamins and nutrients are all very important in keeping your mouth as healthy as it can possibly be. Remember that it is not just one or two or three, you should get the full complement of nutrition. If you want to lose weight that's okay; just work with your doctor to make sure that the methods you are using aren't causing undue harm to the rest of your body. While it is good that you are losing weight, just do not neglect your teeth and mouth health. So no matter how hard you try to take good care of your teeth and gums, you could be engaged in something else that is silently undoing your efforts. Even if your smile is beautiful, you should still take measure to educate yourself about what could possibly become a problem, one day.
