Natural makeup products can actually improve the quality of a person's skin. Unlike traditional cosmetics that clog pores, gets caked up, and often leaves a woman's face looking artificial and mask like, natural products are made specifically to compliment what nature has created. Of course this means chemical free and natural.

Departments stores are filled with shelves overflowing with cosmetics that most women would never purchase if they knew what they contained. Harsh chemicals, lead, and mercury are just a few of the ingredients that have been found. No one in their right mind would intentionally apply these substances to their skin.

A recent study found that the majority of women's lipsticks contained a significant amount of lead. Over four hundred different types of lipstick was tested. While the United States FDA claims that the levels are safe, many are not convinced. One mother remarked that her young child had experienced a severe reaction to a children's brand "approved" play makeup. The child's face swelled to three times its normal size and was not recognizable. Fortunately the little girl recovered after a trip to the emergency room and medical treatment. This truly begs the question of what is deemed "safe" for use.

The largest organ of the human body is the skin. Everything in a person's environment has an effect on the skin, which is also absorbent. Certainly we have limited control over what is in the air, but surely have complete control of what we ingest and or apply to our bodies. Considering that anything absorbed into the skin enters the bloodstream, people should be very aware of what this stuff is.

Just as the human body relies upon nourishment in order to maintain balance and good health, so too does the skin. We have all heard "you are what you eat". The question then becomes "what are we feeding our skin?".

So many ingredients found in traditional cosmetics can create a negative outcome. Those who deal with eczema or acne, or are prone to hives will almost surely have difficulty with the perfumes, chemical dyes, and oils that these products generally contain. In the past, many women who deal with these issues had given up on makeup entirely. Thankfully they have an safer choice today.

Natural makeup products have made it possible for all women regardless of their situation to look terrific, feel confident, and know that they are not risking their health.
