BioIdentical Hormones - The Nature Has Them

By Jake Alexandre

There are specified hormones that are similar in structure and function, so they are termed as bio-identical hormones. This term is usually used for estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. In the present era there are numerous sources from where they are produced. Mexican wild yam and soy are the plants that often produce it. In the beginning they were produced from the urine of pregnant women or manes. The hormone received from manes usually had several limitations due to the molecular difference between that of women and that of manes. Recently they are synthesized in the labs and are given to women according to their body needs and response to the hormone.

Bio-identical hormones were first discovered and made in use by James Collip in 1930's for menopause troublesome features. He used the estrogen which is orally active and can bring changes in your menopause symptoms. It served the purpose but caused several side effects. Therefore later researches in 1970's lead the usage of progesterone hormone in addition to it for declining the side effects and risk factors along with enhancing the hormonal activity to relief the targeted area in better possible way. Till date this combination is used and basic feature to use the progesterone is that it helps the uterus lining to remain healthy and prevent it from getting thinner or disturbed.

Bio- identical hormone therapy (BHRP) is the one which takes in both hormones usage for dealing with menopausal symptoms. These symptoms generally occur around the age of 50 and primarily include the hot flashes at any part of the day along with excessive bleeding from vaginal tract in menstrual period. Sleep disturbances and lack of energy are also often heard problems and in most cases, bone loss or even, mood swing and aches in joints and other parts of the body are also reported. Therefore women use bio-identical hormones for their better physical health. For trusted usage responses and reviews can also be consulted of women whose lives have become better after regular usage of bio-identical hormones.

Estriol estrone or estradiols are often available in the market in place of estrogen hormones, and progestin instead of progesterone hormone. It is because of the fact that they are easily available along with the feature that they have almost similar molecular structure. The route of the hormones can be anyway that suits you, it can be through oral cavity in the form of a pill or in form of patches for transdermal application.

One must be aware of the fact that there are numerous risk factors and side effects are there too that one may have to face with the long term usage of the medicine. These primarily include the vaginal yeast infections along uterine cancer or even severe mental illnesses predisposition as of dementia. Other than these women may suffer from drying of skin, stroke, heart diseases or even diabetes. Therefore it is important to contact your doctor before you go for regular usage. Further research work reveals these risk factors are reduced in case of short term treatment.
