There are quite a few types of back pain, and they all have different causes. A single incident in a persons life can actually lead to long-lasting back pain. People that are sick may also have back pain. Although you may not be aware of what you are doing consciously, certain activities can actually cause back pain as well. Simple things that we do can actually be inappropriate for our spine, causing our back to hurt due to the strain that we are placing upon it.

One thing that can have an impact on your back would be the type of footwear you normally wear. Wearing shoes that do not provide adequate support may result in back pain.

Shoes that are unfit for your daily routine will cause improper posture; which can result in back pain. High heeled shoes tend to fail when proper distribution of weight is an issue and may add to back pain. Cowboy boots can present a similar problem for both men and women. When you pick shoes for fashion rather that a type to suit your daily activities, you may be trading comfort for style, but putting your back, knees and feet at risk. Posture and walking in a balanced way is important for the health of your back, and this requires the right footwear. One frequent cause of back pain is a spinal injury or fracture. When your bone mass decreases, due to osteoporosis, it can cause spinal fractures. In fact, osteoporosis is one of the main causes of a spinal fracture. Osteoporosis can strike both men and women as they age; however, more women are susceptible to this condition than men. Obviously, the weaker and more fragile your bones become, the easier it is to sustain an injury or fracture. A very painful condition exists when you sustain an injury that causes your bones to collapse. Many times this also leads to spinal deformation. Medication is often prescribed for the pain, and in some cases surgery is recommended to help hold fractured bones in place. Anabolic exercises are known to help stop, and even reverse, osteoporosis. A healthy diet can play a huge part in the prevention and reversal of osteoporosis. Calcium nitrate supplements coupled with Vitamin D are helpful as well.

There are a lot of other diseases and illnesses that have back pain in their list of side effects. Diabetes is a disease that can cause pain and discomfort in a number of areas, including the back. This is caused by the negative effect that diabetes has on your immune system, which can result in nerve damage. Neuropathy can affect different areas of the body - for example, feet are susceptible to neuropathy - but the back is also often affected. The best preventative care a diabetic can take is to keep control of their blood sugar level at all times. This can prevent neuropathy, or nerve pain, from developing. Getting rid of your excess weight will not only help you control your diabetes but, as mentioned above, can help alleviate back pain due to stress on your spine.

There are many reasons why someone may suffer from back pain and, sometimes, it isn't even possible for a medical doctor to ascertain the exact cause of someone's problem. Perhaps you lifted a heavy box and the result was back pain. In that instance, it's pretty easy to determine the cause for the pain. In other situations, the reason isn't always as evident. The situations you can get into that may lead to back pain are many. We have only been able to touch on a few in this short article.
