Yeast Infection Prevention

By Ryan Maine

Yeast infections are not easy problems to deal with by any stretch of the imagination which is why many people find them so difficult to cope with. The good news is that you don't have to wait for a yeast infection; you can actually do certain things to help prevent it happening in the first place.

However, even though the tips I'm about to give may work you should always visit your doctor before trying anything to prevent yeast infections just to make sure that you are on the safe side. The last thing you want to do is make a problem worse so always talk to your GP.

One of the most common causes of yeast infections that people talk about is tight fitting underwear. While this isn't the cause of all yeast infections it may help to wear looser fitting cotton underwear in some cases so give it a go.

While it might not be the answer you want to hear a lot of problems can be helped by getting more exercise and drinking more water. If you are fit and do lots of exercise you will be less likely to get all kinds of infections because of a stronger immune system.

If you are taking antibiotics then this might be a cause of yeast infections. However you are obviously taking them for a reason so don't stop - talk to your doctor if you are worried about your antibiotics and yeast infections.

Yeast infections are a very common problem amongst women and men can get them too although that is less common. You should always visit your doctor as soon as you feel that you have a yeast infection because he or she will be able to provide you with medication to sort out the problem quickly. Don't try and treat it yourself until you have visited a doctor.
